In the early part of 1978, Reverend and Mrs. Elmer
Cross started a new home mission church in Lanett,
Alabama, at the corner of Phillips Road and
Cusseta Road in what was most recently the old
Chicken Stop Restaurant.

In late 1978, Rev. Cross bought a house with
several acres at 2437 Phillips Road and began
holding church services there.  They added on to the
house for more Sunday School class facilities.
Many repented and were baptized in the name of
Jesus and filled with the Holy Ghost.  Due to health
problems and with the death of Sister Annie J.
Cross, Reverend Cross resigned in 1990.  (For

At the time of Rev. Cross' resignation, Rev. Micheal
Thomas became the residing pastor and began
making further renovations to the building.
Reverend Thomas pastored First Pentecostal
Church until 2000.

In 2000, Rev. Gary McNeily became pastor.  Under
his ministry and with a lot of hard work, a new
sanctuary auditorium building was erected next door
to the old building and we began having services in
the new building in March 2004.

In April 2006, the old "house-turn-church" building
was tore down and a new Sunday School
Wing/Fellowship Hall is being erected elsewhere on
the property.

With God's help, we anticipate a growth in
attendance in the near future.  To God be the Glory!
